As part of ISAZ’s initiative to enhance the attendance and participation of culturally diverse and underrepresented groups in its conferences, we offer Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) awards to support attendance at ISAZ conference

Eligibility Requirements: Applicant must meet the below criteria to be eligible for consideration for the award.
- Be a member of an underrepresented group. Examples include groups based on racial/ethnic minority identification, nationality, sexual orientation, age, socioeconomic status, religious affiliation, political beliefs, or disability/other special needs
- Students, postdoc, faculty or research scientist
- Currently enrolled in an educational institution/currently employed in an institution or organization
- Must have submitted an abstract and agreed to present and/or contributed as an author if they receive the award
- Must be willing to complete a report on their conference attendance
- Preference will be given to applicants who have not received a previous award from ISAZ
Applicant to submit a personal statement (1 page max.) as to why they are well-suited for the ISAZ-DEI award, including:
- A description of their experience and background in the field of anthrozoology, employment, and future career directions
- A description of their human-animal interaction relevance
- A statement of their need
- What they would get out of the ISAZ 2023 conference
- How they are a diverse candidate, and
- How their ISAZ 2023 abstract submission-related work is relevant to the conference
Recipients will be considered based on their general need.
