Student Membership is open to students who have an interest in the field of human-animal interactions, but who may, or may not, have conducted scholarly research in the field.
Student Members receive most of the benefits of ISAZ membership, but do not receive the hard copy print journal or have voting rights within the Society.
Membership as a student is normally allowed for only three years, after which it is expected that students will apply for regular or affiliate membership. In exceptional circumstances students may apply to renew their student membership beyond three years. Such requests will only be considered by the Membership Committee upon receipt of proof of current student status. Graduating students are encouraged to apply for Early Career, Individual or Affiliate Membership, as appropriate.
The Student Membership rate is equivalent to 50% of the cost of Individual/Affiliate Membership.
Annual Student Member Fee: $75**
**An additional 3% administrative fee will be added to all annual membership payments.

According to the rules of ISAZ, student applicants must provide proof of student status with their application, and must substantiate continued student status each year at renewal time.
Student status can be substantiated by submitting one of the following: • Copy of current student ID card with date; • Copy of current semester’s course roster with date; • Letter from Dean, department head, or mentor written on university letterhead with date
Applicants residing in countries classified as low-income or lower-middle income economies by the World Bank are eligible to receive either Discount Type 1 (low-income economies) or Discount Type 2 (lower-middle income economies) rate instead of the standard Student rate. The total annual membership cost for Discount Type 1 and Discount Type 2 are as follows:
Discount Type 1: $22.50 per year** (Equivalent to 15% of the cost of Individual/Affiliate Membership)
Discount Type 2: $45 per year** (Equivalent to 30% of the cost of Individual/Affiliate Membership)
