About Us

Mission

The mission of ISAZ is to serve the growing community of scholars and scientists working in the field of Anthrozoology (the study of human–animal interactions and relationships) by supporting research, publishing and disseminating new insights and discoveries, and promoting the exchange of knowledge and expertise within the field.

ISAZ serves over 300 members representing nearly 30 countries. ISAZ membership includes organizations, researchers, students, and affiliates (individuals interested in the field who are not conducting research) and occurs by accepted applications.

Officers and Board members are elected annually and nominated to represent a wide range, not just of academic backgrounds, but also of countries.

ISAZ holds an annual conference to encourage the exchange and dissemination of information related to research in the field of anthrozoology. Annual conferences have been held in many different international locations.

ISAZ publishes Anthrozoös, a multidisciplinary journal of the interactions of people and other animals, through Routledge which provides current and back issues online in addition to the traditional printed version of the journal. Anthrozoös enjoys a high “impact factor,” one measure of the quality of what it publishes.

ISAZ is a 501.c.3. non-profit organization incorporated in the state of Pennsylvania.
