Individual Membership is open to researchers involved in conducting scholarly research within the broad field of human-animal interactions. To qualify for Individual Membership, evidence of scholarly research or activity in the field must be provided. 

Individual members have full voting rights within the Society and may be elected to the Board of Directors.

Candidates for election to Individual Membership must be proposed by an Individual Member and seconded by another Individual Member, or they may apply for and receive nomination by the Board of Directors.

Affiliate Membership is open to practitioners and other individuals who have an interest in the field of human-animal interactions, but who are not conducting scholarly research. 

Affiliates receive all of the benefits of ISAZ membership, but do not have voting rights within the Society. Affiliate members cannot be elected to the Board of Directors, except in an ex-officio capacity.

Student Membership is open to students who have an interest in the field of human-animal interactions, but who may, or may not, have conducted scholarly research in the field. 

Student Members receive most of the benefits of ISAZ membership, but do not receive the hard copy print journal or have voting rights within the Society.

Membership as a student is normally allowed for only three years, after which it is expected that students will apply for regular or affiliate membership. In exceptional circumstances students may apply to renew their student membership beyond three years. Such requests will only be considered by the Membership Committee upon receipt of proof of current student status. Graduating students are encouraged to apply for Early Career, Individual or Affiliate Membership, as appropriate.

The Student Membership rate is equivalent to 50% of the cost of Individual/Affiliate Membership.

Corporate Membership is open to charities, organizations, or companies that have an interest in the aims of the Society. When submitting an application for Corporate Membership, please include information that demonstrates how your organization relates to the field of human-animal interactions or to the mission of the International Society for Anthrozoology.

If your application is accepted, up to three members of the corporation may receive the benefits of ISAZ membership, but only one member may vote at any General Meeting attended. 

Corporate members cannot be elected to the Board of Directors, except in an ex-officio capacity.

Life Membership is open to Individuals Members only, and requires a one-time payment. Submission of an Individual Membership application is required if you have not previously been an Individual Member. 

Life Members have full voting rights within the Society and may be elected to the Board of Directors.

Early Career Membership is open to recent graduates who have an interest in the field of human-animal interactions, but who may, or may not, have conducted scholarly research in the field. Early Career Members must be withing 5 years of their terminal degree (e.g., PhD, MD, DVM, or equivalent). 

Early Career Members receive most of the benefits of ISAZ membership, but do not receive the hard copy print journal or have voting rights within the Society.

Individuals past 5 years from their terminal degree are encouraged to apply for Individual Membership or to become an Affiliate, as appropriate.

The Early Career Membership rate is equivalent to 75% of the cost of Individual/Affiliate Membership.

Retiree Membership is open to former Individual or Affiliate Members over 70 years of age. In order to be eligible for Retiree Membership, you must have been an ISAZ member for at least 10 years. 

Voting rights will be granted if you were previously an Individual Member.

The Retiree Membership rate is equivalent to 50% of the cost of Individual/Affiliate Membership.

The Discount Type 1 is available to anyone with an interest in the field of human-animal interactions who resides in a region classified as a low-income economy according to the World Bank. 

Discount Type 1 Members will receive online access to the full back catalog of Anthrozoös, but will be ineligible to receive the printed hard copies of the annual journal.

Voting rights within the society will be granted to those approved for Individual Membership. 

The discount rate is equivalent to 15% of the cost of Individual/Affiliate Membership. The discount cannot be applied toward a Corporate or Life Membership. 

To apply for the Discount Type 1, complete the full application for the type of membership you are interested in (i.e. Individual, Affiliate, Early Career, Student, or Retiree), including the bottom section of the form pertaining to Discount Type 1.

The Discount Type 2 is available to anyone with an interest in the field of human-animal interactions who resides in a region classified as a lower-middle income economy according to the World Bank. 

Discount Type 2 Members will receive online access to the full back catalog of Anthrozoös, but will be ineligible to receive the printed hard copies of the annual journal.

Voting rights within the society will be granted to those approved for Individual Membership. 

The discount rate is equivalent to 30% of the cost of Individual/Affiliate Membership. The discount cannot be applied toward a Corporate or Life Membership.
